About
A native of Brazil, Karen Ferreira’s love of photography began at a young age on the famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro. She pursued this passion into her teen years, amassing a portfolio of experience ranging from concerts to fashion shows to weddings and fine art portraits, with over a dozen photos published in newspapers and magazines.
Karen earned her first Bachelor’s Degree in Photography (2009) from Estácio de Sá University, and was awarded Valedictorian of her class. She earned another BA in Graphic Design (2012) from top Brazilian media school Instituto Infnet.
After relocating to the US, Karen earned her BS in Film (2015) from Full Sail University. She was again honored as Valedictorian and received the Advanced Achievement award. While at Full Sail, she discovered her passion for film editing and worked on more than a dozen short films ranging from documentary to live-action narrative to experimental.
In 2016, Karen put her skills to the test editing the official trailer for John Goshorn’s debut feature film, The Happiest Place on Earth (2015). She also edited a compelling video series for the MAPAA (Meio Ambiente e Proteção Animal), a Brazilian non-profit dedicated to environmental causes and the rescue and rehabilitation of abused animals. The entire campaign, which can be viewed on the MAPAA site, features interviews with some of the highest-profile celebrities in Brazil, from all sectors of the entertainment industry.
In February of 2017, Karen earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Production from Full Sail University, with Course Director Awards for Experimental Filmmaking and Filmmaking Concepts and Practices.
